Yesterday was ako evening. We had only 30 minutes to practise our dance or song, and practise our Pacific natural disaster production. My group started off practising the dance because some of our group didn't really know the moves. (Link to song) We did it for 15 minutes and then started to practise the production. but when it came to 9:30 we had to sit in our dance position.
Akanesi talked to the about how they were going to be traveling around the pacific with the Kia Manawanui synciate but they had to get a paddle first, and when I all of them got one they paddled to the first island Fiji. Fiji is my group so I was pretty nervous, Lelani stand up and said ¨Hello what brings you to my island?¨ Akanis ¨Me and my friends are traveling around the pacific asking about the different natural disasters that occur on your island¨ Lelani ¨Okay we will tell you about the story the Turtles of Namuana but first let me and my group entertain you and your friends¨ As Lelani sat down the music started to play, and we started to do the moves to the dance.

Once we finished the dance we immediately went into our play positions. Lelani - Narrator ¨Once upon a time in the land of Fiji, there lived a beautiful lady names Rosi. (Coralee walked up and picked up flowers) She was the wife of chief Jone, (Akih walked up)  and they had a beautiful baby named Emali. (Hevani walked up and picked up Flowers) Emali and Rosi loved to play outside, (Coralee and Hevani played tag) and they loved to catch fish on the seashore. (Emali sat down and ate lunch) Rosi ¨Emali quickly finish your breakfast it's almost time to catch our lunch!¨ Email ¨ Oi na, im almost done¨ Rosi ¨Jone it's time for me and Emali to go catch our lunch¨ Jone ¨Okay just be careful out there!¨ Emali ¨Mum could we swim furrer out this time?¨ Rosi ¨Sure Emali I think that it's time we eat a different fish for lunch¨ Akih "While Rosi and Emali were enjoying themselves in the ocean they didn’t realise that 2 fishermen from Nabukelevu were spying on them" Mosese - Fe'ao The Chief’s wife and the Princess are fishing close to our zone of the sea. Seci - Amon We should capture them and take them back to Nabukelevu. Mosese - Fe'ao That’s what I was thinking of. Can you imagine how much money the Chief will pay us to have them back? Seci - Amon He probably will give us $1000 shillings! We would also get rewarded from our Chief. Mosese - Fe'ao Now heres the plan we will slowly and silently make our way over to them and then we will put them in our canoe and take them away. Seci - Amon Great idea! now let’s start making our way over. Narrator - Akih The Fishermen started to slowly make their way over to Rosi and Emali but they were too busy catching fish that they never saw the fishermen. When the fishermen were close they grabbed Rosi and Emali and put them inside their canoe. Rosi - Coralee No (in fijian)Hey let us go!! Emali - Hevani What are you doing!? Mosese - Fe'ao Be quiet!! (fijian translation) Seci - Amon You guys are coming with us. Narrator - Leilani The Fishermen were paddling as fast as they could to make it to the shore of Nabukelevu. But the fishermen didn't know that Dakuwaqa (The God of the Sea) was watching their every move. Dakuwaqa - Star These fishermen aren't showing the way we treat royalty and they are both filled with greed. Narrator - Leilani Dakuwaqa, the shark God, was very unhappy with their actions so he turned the sky black and he made the seas rough. Mosese - Fe'ao Seci I think that Dakuwaqa is punishing us, so he is making the seas rough. Seci - Amon I agree, try to keep the boat still so we can still get the money.

While the fishermen were worrying about keeping the boat stable, they didn't realise that Rosi and Emali were turning into turtles. Emali - Hevani What's happening to us Na? Rosi - Coralee I think that the Dakuwaqa is helping us escape. Narrator - Akih As soon as Rosi and Emali escaped the sky changed back into it's beautiful blue and the sea's were calm again. But Dakuwaqa was still unhappy with the actions of Mosese and Seci. Dakuwaqa - Star Because Mosese and Seci tried to escape from my storm I'm going to send heavy rain to the village of Nabukelevu. Narrator - Leilani Heavy rain was sent to the village of Nabukelevu. There was so much rain that it started to flood the Village and all of it's crops was destroyed. From that day on Rosi and Emali stayed as Turtles and they acted as guards of the village of Namuana. Nowadays when heavy rain hits the village of Nabukelevu and it starts to flood they believe that one of of their fishermen have caught a Turtle on purpose.
The flood poem started to play on the tv, once it was finished Akanesi came and said "Wow! That was an amazing story. This is a story dedicated to the flooding that had happened recently in April when Cyclone Josie had hit Fiji, killing a few people and closing many roads" And that is the end of our Fiji productions.
