CyberSmart

CyberSmart
WAL: How to be CyberSmart!

Today we've been learning how to leave a positive, helpful, thoughtful comments which is technically a quality comment.

Ms Collins was going to be teaching us all about how to post a quality blog post comment. The first thing we did was go on our cybersmart folder which had the Quality Blog Commenting DLO. We had to make 2 comments which has to be HELPFUL, THOUGHTFUL and POSITIVE! This programme is more schools all around the New Zealand to get to know what we have been learning about.

We were supposed to have 1 bubby but instead we had 2 so that means we had to do 2 blog comments. After that we visited the schools blog and picked one of the blog post to comment on, for the first school which was Toroa School, I choose to comment on their video about the recent Christchurch shooting, it was heartbreaking to here was happened their, and all the lives that have been lost, we'll never forget the horrible things that happened to innocent people.

After watching the video, I started to draft my comment. It was a bit difficult and long, but I still tried my best, this is my comment " loved how you made a video dedicated to the shooting that happened in Christchurch. It was really heartbreaking and scary because I did some research and found out that your school is in Christchurch. I would love to give my support and love to you and the people who sadly died, please keep up the good work! #Theyareus

The next school is Marshland School, and I desidicted to comment on there "Hi Awahono school, my name is Coralee. I am a year 8 from Tamaki Primary School who is 11 years old. I love how everyone was contributing and taking part in the activity. If you guys ended up recording the skit send it to me straight away!! I would like to give my positive feedback to help you guys improve."

Region

Region
WALA: What are regions?

Today word is Region. For this task we are having to explain what the word for the day is about, and the word I am going to be explaining is Region.

"Region is a part of a Country, city or the world that can define characteristics but not always fix boundaries" In other terms Region can be anything for example it could be Geographic or space. You probably hear this word when talking about different sessions or other things, here's an example! Region could be said in different sentences like, the Forest region. Region could basically be anything.

Kuri

Kuri
IALA: The Kuri/Dogs

This week i've been reading a text called Kuri. One of the main ideas is that the kuri are extinct. An example of this is that bones were found all around New Zealand that belonged to Kuri.

Another main point is that they would use the Kuri skin and fur to make clothing to protect them. An example of this is that during fights the Kuri fur will help them in Hand fights because of their thick thick fur.

Another key idea is Disappearance. An example of this is that the kuri were eaten to death but also shot. They were shot because Farmers didn't like dogs running around and scaring the animals, so they would shoot them. And to back up my reasoning is that most Kuri were wild because most people were traders and farmers so they had no time for Dogs missing everything up, that's why little pups would died because they were wild and hungry.

Century

Century
WALA: What is a Century?
Image result for old and new
Today word is Century, everyday we get a word which we blog about and discuss. We had to make a blog post telling the world, what is a century? Century is a period of one hundred years, for example. I am been alive for a Decade and 2 years, decade means ten years. That's why people say the 21 Century and 11 Century, yeah we learn something everyday. I hoped you enjoy!

Why Does The Earth Need An Atmosphere?

Why Does The Earth Need An Atmosphere?

The earth has a pretty strong atmosphere which protects us from sun radiation and sometimes
astros and other things. The earth’s has different atmospheres which helps us in different ways
for example, the Troposphere is where the weather cycle occurs and is the lowest atmosphere
layer, this helps us in many ways because then we think of weather we think of sun, rain and
clouds, but rain also happens to give the planet life and water to survive with. WIthout the
Troposphere earth will lose all it’s life, and without life we will starve.

Stratosphere is the second lowest Atmosphere layer. In this layer you will find the Ozone
layer which helps to absorb the sun's harmful heat or UV ray from most lucky burning us to death.
While in the stratosphere you are able to see aeroplanes flying around as the Stratosphere is
free from from all weather disturbances, and to top it all off the Stratosphere extends to about
30-35 miles above earth's crust or you can say surface.

Mesosphere is where's the astros or meteors burns up when trying to DESTROY OUR PLANET!
The mesosphere stretches up to 50 miles from the earth's surface.
The Thermosphere. In the Thermosphere it will getting hard to breathe because the air is more
thin than before, while it’s getting extremely hot in the Thermosphere. It’s 400 miles away
from the surfaces of Earth

Thermosphere contains the Ionosphere. Many atoms are ionized in this year, and their you
can also find electrical charges in that same layer.
The last layer is the Exosphere it goes up to 6200 miles from the earth's surface.

What Makes Me Tick

What Makes Me Tick!

Hello my name is Coralee and I Live with 4 sisters and 1 brother.
Because I have one brother he was always the favorite so he grew up soiled,
one of the things that make me tick is when my brother gets something
he doesn't dersver like taking my turn on the xbox or getting something that I wanted.

Another thing that makes me tick is when someone says the obviously
which really makes me stressed and annoyed  because at the time
it’s when we have to do work and their questions set us back a while.

The other thing that makes me annoyed or mad is when someone says
something bad about me and because I am now a student leader I don’t
want to make the same mistake as my sister so I am going to follow the wits thing.

Another thing that makes me tick is when someone tries to be funny.
This make me tick because they know it’s not funny but they do it
anyways which really makes me annoyed.

Goals

My Goals
WALT: Set Goals

This week we've been focusing on our goals which we have to make a hand using sign and symbols explaining my learning journey. These are my goals!

Team Building Week

Team Building Week
WALT: Work in a team

This week we've been focusing on working in a team or you could stay team building and creating positive relationships with other classmates. We had a whole week of fun activities and games which we had to use teamwork and communication to work together to get the activity done.

On Thursday we went to technology which we had to split into our group. My group is Graphics as the other groups are Cooking and Hard materials. In my group we were doing shapes and tones, some people will mistaken it for like high and low tones but the tones in art is all about like the shading and the dimension which is technically size. We've got even a piece of paper which we had to draw a 3D box and keep practicing until we get it right, and after that we got to choose a color which we had to make it like 3 dimensional, by coloring the top light and middle, medium as the side really dark sso you get that 3D effect.

We did many more tries and then we went to the next step with we had to leave a Y like this for example ---->
It was pretty hard because I forgot to do the Y over and over again but I finally did it! Now it's time to pack up because we are about to go to the pool once we go onto the bus! We all quickly put our stuff away and ran to the bus making sure our netbook didn't fall. We go straight to the front and save the other 2 sits for my other friends which we were a different class. We are now off to the pool it's going to be so fun!!

We make it to the pools and we lined up just outside making sure we weren't in anyone's way. We put our netbooks in Ms Aireens cars as we grabbed some noodles for some Team activities. We've got changed and ate our Morning tea, I got some money so I took me and my friends to get a ice cream which got us forever and when we came back everyone was waiting for us near the pool. we left our ice creams in the sun and ran to them.  We got there in time we we did some team building games, after that we had a bit of free time and had lunch, before we knew it, it was time to leave so we got to school waited for the bell and went home.

We I got home I got all my stuff for the sleepover and went with Carra to go get her tent, we grabbed it and we waited for the right time to leave which was 4.30. We got in Carra's dads car and went to the sleepover which was at the school. It was fun and we did all types of team building like, role playing/film and we had a dance compilation. It started to go dark so we all sat in the hall and watched a movie. The movie was Megamind, and it was pretty cool. We ended up not watching all of the movie because it was getting late. We went to Carra's tent by all 3 of us couldn't fit so me and Carra went to Chanels tent where she was gonna go because she didn't wanna stay. We had a nice sleep but woke up to a nice rain shower. It was totally lovely (jokes). And then we just cleant the hall and had somefun.

Solo Current Events

Solo Current Events
WALT: Apply the SOLO thinking framework to the critically examine a current event.

This week we've been doing our solo current event. For this task we have to pick an article from the news and read it, once we have done that we have to answer some question which you can answer by actually reading the text.

The Spook's Destiny

The Spook's Destiny

Today I am going to predict what going to happen in the story The Spook’s Destiny.
I might get the prediction wrong or right that’s why I am going to read and find out in a
few days time, now let’s read the book. “You Belong to the blade now…. You’ll belong
to it until the day you die” Already I have no clue what’s the quote is about, it might be
about how he’s going to find a sword and he now can’t leave it alone or leave it behind.
The spook, tom and alice have travelled to ireland, fleeing the war in the Country.
There, Tom must tuckle a group of evil mages who are desperate to red their land
of the pook and his apprentice, and to increase their own dark powers” Just by reading
that text I can tell they’re are going on a mission, but just don’t know what for….
His dangerous mission against the mages leads Tom and Destiny Blade --- a sword
with a dark side, and a thirst for blood… Will this new weapon give him a fighting chance
against the Fiend?” Now I really think that they are going on a mission to find the Destiny
Blade which might give him strength and fighting skills to defeat the fiend. So that's basically
what I think about what’s going to happen.

Kuri - Dogs

Kuri - Dog
Many years ago where there were only Māoris in New Zealand.
They would travel to find new lands, but they’re were never alone.
They usually bring their Kuri which are dogs. The dogs were used
to confront them and to find food, but sometimes the Maoris will
eat the dog if they couldn’t find food. The Kuri is really good hunters
and their wool will protect them from when they have fights or something.
If I had the opportunity to wear the cloak it would probably will a little
hard but in some spots it would feel nice a fluffy.

During our reading session we found out that Tāneatua lost some
of his Kuri which were left in different parts of New Zealand.
He even threw his dog over a cliff which they even called it Whakataka
which means to throw off.

Scientist are trying to discover what Kuri looks like and what they eat,
\ and trying to figure out how they treated the environment, Scientist Dr
Priscilla is the one behind this.

Why did the Kuri disappear? Wella Calling to the text I found out
that the Kuri were so over popularity that the people didn’t really
like them because they would scare away the sheep, which made
a lot of the puppies were wild which made them kill a lot of the
animals to stay alive.

List -
Kuri Disappearance
How’d they died?

  1. They ate them all
  2. They starved to death
  3. They cut all their fur off and they’re freeze to death
  4. A volcano
  5. Drowned

Role Model

Role Model

My role models is my Parents. My mum and dad are supportive, hard working and they’re achiever.
They’re always are working hard and being a supportive mum and dad at the same time.
They always choose our health on top of theirs and thats what make them amazing parents.

My mum and dad are both hard working. My dad works 3 am to 12pm as my mum works 7pm to 5pm,
even though they work really hard they alway makes time for us everyday and mostly on the weekends,
when we go to the pools every saturday. For example, when it is saturday we all wake up early and
clean up before we head off and once we finished cleaning which only takes us about 20 minutes,
we start to get all our stuff ready. When we get all our stuff ready we head off to the shops to get
some food so we don’t get hungry we’ll swimming then we just have a fun day!

My parent are both supportive to me and my siblings. My parent are supportive because they’re
always for us in every way, and also accepted who we are and what we like to do. For Example,
my mum and dad would accept you if you liked the same gender as you and would accept for who
you are and not trying to change the fact that she was different, well everyone is different.
What I am trying to say is that my mum and dad are chill and supportive, understanding,
loving people who will accept you for who you are.

My parents are achievers which they always do things to a high standard, and make sure
we do the same. My mum and dad are always reaching for the stars to make sure they both
succeed. For example, they always try their best while at work and while at home, making sure
we are alright, and trying fix the time for us to go to the doctors if we are sick. If it wasn’t for them
I wouldn’t be here to this day, and I wouldn’t be a student leader without my mum and dads love
and support.

I just want to say thank you to my Parents for everything they done for me, I can never repay them
from nursing me ever since I was a little baby till now. They raised me, helped me, cared for me my
whole life. But what I am trying to say is that they are amazing parents which are caring, loving,
supportive, and hard working, they are the parents I always wanted and more.

Compare And Contrast

Compare And Contrast
WALT: Compare and contrast two different clocks

Today for technology we've being Comparing to different clocks. The clocks I choose was a Digital watch and a normal clock or you could have wall clock. For this task we had to use two different clocks and compare and contrast them, this is what I did!
